The second round of matches on Matchday 5 saw 16 teams face off against one another.

Arsenal are on an incredible run of 11 wins out of 13. They are through to the knock-out stages of Europe’s No1 competition – the Champions League, and in the running for the top four in the Premier League, and in the last eight of the Carling Cup.

Arsenal have gone seven years without a trophy but this week – as much as ever – has shown that a Champions League place should never be taken for granted.

Arsenal defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 as Arsene Wenger’s talent became apperant and Arsenal became the first English team to qualify for the UEFA Champions League knock-out stages and won Group F. A double from Robin Van Persie won Group F.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song was named man of the match for his superb performance.
